Rebuild Kit was exactly what I needed!
March 13, 2022 by James D. (United States)
“Overnight outside temperatures in Nebraska were approximately 10F when my inducer motor started seizing up and my furnace would not run without this inducer fan running.

Pro tip: I sprayed penetrating oil on both sides of the existing seized inducer motor and that got the failing motor to run rather well while for the 2 days while I waited for this kit to arrive.

The kit arrived ground shipping which was only 2 days from Shortys located in Indiana to my house in Nebraska! If your questioning the process of rebuilding this inducer motor there are great YouTube video resources to quickly review before starting. Rebuilding the inducer assembly but over its pretty straight forward. Be sure to have the squirrel cage fan attached to the long shaft of the new inducer motor and to leave a decent gap between the squirrel cage motor and the bracket.

I would recommend buying this whole kit instead of just the motor as the kit includes the gaskets you will soon need, the clips that you will probably destroy and most importantly the kit contains a new squirrel cage fan. Having a new squirrel cage fan was important to me as the grub screw holding the existing squirrel cage fans to the shaft of the motor is exposed to very high temperatures and can basically weld to the shaft over time, If this happens you need to cut the squirrel cage fan away from the motor to free up your bracket you will be reusing. Having a spare in hand while tearing into this project will always be worth the extra couple bucks spent for me!”

Perfect rebuild

“Ordered the part at 11pm Thursday and received an email around 6 am Friday or so that the part had already shipped. Received the part on Monday and installation was very easy, though I have had some past HVAC experience. The old inducer fan still worked but it was becoming very noisy and the bearings were beginning to seize. New fan is quiet and free spinning. Motor specifications and parts were exact with image and description. I will be sure to order any future parts from Shortys.”
