 Water contains dissolved minerals that remain after water has evaporated. Hard water has more dissolved minerals than soft water. These minerals are left on the humidifier evaporator panel after the water has evaporated. Most humidifer manufacturers recommend that the humidifier pads be changed at least once per year. Depending on the amount of usage and the hardness of your water your evaporator panels may need changed more or less often.

  Honeywell manufacturers a water panel that has an Agion coating that is designed to last the life of the humidifier pad and prevent surface growth of algae, bacteria, fungus, and mold. It is available to replace most Aprilaire water panels as well as other brands. Many sizes of Aprilaire water panels are interchangeable with Honeywell, Totaline, Bryant, Carrier, Lennox, Hamilton, Chippewa and Lasko water panels.
